Inspired by the will to observe my negative thinking, to transform negative emotion into positive, this piece delves right into the ego brain, and even though the figures are turning away from the light, they cannot help but be bathed in the divine. I think even when we feel really isolated and alone in our thoughts, there is always this light, this consciousness that is there, within us all the time.
I wanted to convey a subtle sense of one becoming two or a blurriness in distinction between self and other, presence and mind. There is often a feeling like we have two selves, like there is who we really are inside, how we know ourselves to be and feel and then there is how we present ourselves to the world. I heard Eckhart Tolle speak about thoughts such as : "I hate myself". He says that this suggests that there is an "I" as well as a "self" that "I" hate. Are there two of you in your head? Or are you one consciousness observing the play of your inner voices. This piece plays with the subtleness of the mind and thoughts and the trickiness in recognising them for what they are.
This piece represents letting go and allowing the light of consciousness and love to submerge you in peace. Often we want healthier bodies or more abundance in life but we don't offer up any healthy, abundant thoughts and feelings. Often we are stuck in a habit of doubt, fear and lack. I created this piece as a reminder to let more of those positive energies flow into my life.
